Saturday No-Drop Ride (Shop Ride):
We will leave the store at 7:30am for a 2 hour road ride, give or take a few minutes. The store will be open for "Pit Stops" at 7:00am and the ride will start promptly at 7:30am. There are several routes that we can choose from depending on the size and fitness level of the group. Rides will vary between 25 and 30 miles and will finish by 9:45am. The terrain will be rolling to hilly. We use pace lines whenever possible during the ride. Helmets are required. This is a no drop ride (i.e., we will wait for slower riders when we get to a turn. Please be able to maintain a pace of at least 15-16 mi/hr on rolling to hilly terrain, so that we can keep the group togeather as much as possible). NOTE: Our ride/no-ride policy is 40^+ and no precipitation at time ride starts. Overnight temperatures must be above freezing, so that we can avoid "black ice".
Wednesday Red Cork Ride:
This ride will be taken place every Wednesday thru August 17th (weather permiting). The ride will leave from the shop at 5:30pm and should be done around 7:30pm (total distance aprox 40 miles). We will do the following route: Strava Route. There will a 4 hill "segments" of varying length and 1 sprint "segment" per lap (3 1/2 laps total). The tempo between ssegments will be a "recovery" pace, to let riders regroup. This is not a race, so there will be no "breakaways" and riders must observe all posted traffic signs (that means stop at stop signs). At the end of the ride we will have a finishing sprint. The winner of the finishing sprint will receive the the coveted Red Cork. The winner of the red cork must ride the following week or pass the cork to the second place finisher.
Sunday Mountain Bike Ride (TEMPORARILY CANCELED):
There are many great trails within riding distance of our store (Little Bennett, Magruder Trail & Patuxent River State Park to name a few). Ride meets every Sunday at the bike store, weather permitting, time and route varies week to week. There are several routes that we can choose from, depending on the size and fitness level of the group. Helmets are required. Children must be at least 13 years old and have adult supervision. NOTE: Mountain bike rides will start when trail conditions permit (ground must be firm, so that we don't degrade trail systems)
